Dear Students,
I want to extend a warm welcome to all new students. I hope you will have a rewarding and successful experience in the Ohio University RN-to-BSN program. My office, the office of Dean of the College of Health and Human Services, and the Center for Lifelong and Distance Learning are here to support your success as a member of the Ohio University community. The RN-to-BSN Program offers an outstanding faculty, curricula and program of high quality, state-of -the-art technology, convenient and flexible courses, and a progressive learning environment. Our faculty want to ensure that you know how to locate the wide variety of resources available to you and that you are aware of and have easy access to the policies and regulation that pertain to you as a student at Ohio University.
Our mission is to provide students with the skills, knowledge and ability to meet the highest standards in their personal, professional and civic lives. Ohio University RN-to-BSN faculty members are actively engaged in scholarship in their respective field, and this process enriches their commitment to student learning. Additionally, Ohio University partners with community leaders, employing organizations, and legislative liaisons to ensure that all stakeholders' needs are represented and that our curricula are responsive to emerging trends.
I am very proud of the online RN-to-BSN degree program, which allows busy registered nurses the opportunity to earn a BSN degree. Offering our courses online provides an opportunity for working registered nurses to continue their education without interrupting family and work obligations. Many Ohio University students have successfully completed Ohio University’s online RN-to-BSN program since 1975 and have continued their education in our graduate nursing programs. While no campus attendance is required, our online students receive the same quality education and degree as a campus-based student.
Ohio University faculty has experience teaching in the online classroom, and most faculty members are full-time professors on the Ohio University campus. The faculty and staff members of your program are among the most important people you will meet during your time at Ohio University.
The Ohio University RN-to-BSN degree program is committed to graduating nurses who are self-assured, competent professionals who can practice in the global community. We prepare nurses to make compassionate, sound decisions regarding care to individuals, families and communities in a culturally diverse society. Ohio University's CCNE-accredited RN-to-BSN program will be a part of your professional future. Please know that we are here to support your success as a member of the Ohio University community. I look forward to meeting you and working with you during time at the University.
Sincerely,
Mary E. Bowen RN, DNS, JD, NEA-BC, FNP-BC
